More than MVR300k stolen in office robbery
Thieves broke open the safe in the office of the International Food Solutions company.

More than MVR300,000 in cash was stolen Monday morning from the safe of the International Food Solutions company’s office in Malé.
The break-in on the first day of Ramadan was reported at 8:42am, police said. Apart from the money in the safe, cash was also stolen from drawers.
An annual spike in cases of theft and robbery is usually recorded during the fasting month. As working hours start later than usual during Ramadan, robberies occur in the early morning when most people are asleep.
Some 386 cases of theft were reported during April, up 43 percent from the previous month.
