MVR450,000 stolen from Immigration

A police spokesman said the money was stolen from visa fee deposit drawers at the department’s counters during lunch break.

Some MVR450,000 (US$29,000) was stolen at noon from the department of immigration today.
A police spokesman said the money was stolen from visa fee deposit drawers at the department’s counters during lunch break.
No arrests have been made yet.
Some 3182 cases of theft have been reported this year. In 2014, 5081 cases were reported and in 2013, 6683 cases were reported.
