An aluminium and glass window pane fell from the third floor of a building under construction in the Maafannu ward of the capital Tuesday evening.
The incident was reported around 7:15pm and no one was harmed, a police spokeswoman said. The window pane fell onto the street while workers were trying to fix it to the window frame.
The building is under construction by a local company called Infinity Builders, police said.
It was the latest in a spate of accidents involving objects falling from construction sites in the densely-packed capital city.
Last month, two Maldivians and four Indian workers from a construction company were charged over the death of an eight-year-old girl who was hit by a cement bag that fell from a construction site.
Authorities launched inspections of all construction sites after horrific video footage of the tragic accident in December sparked public outrage.
Last month, a Bangladeshi construction worker was killed after being hit by a falling stone last month.
