A Chinese worked died on Saturday after falling from a building under construction in the capital’s island suburb Hulhumalé.
The man fell from the building’s ninth floor and landed on the second floor, police said. He was dead on arrival at the Hulhumalé hospital.
The accident occurred around 08:3am at a housing tower under construction under the previous administration’s Hiyaa project.
Last month, a Bangladeshi worker died after being hit on the head with a falling stone from a construction site in Hulhumalé.
Inspections of all construction sites in Malé and its suburb islands were launched in December after an eight-year-old Bangladeshi girl was killed by a falling cement bag.
A review of safety regulations was also ordered after horrific video footage of the tragic accident sparked public outrage.
