Two people were arrested Thursday in connection with attacks on Dhiffushi island, Kaafu atoll.
Police confirmed that two men, aged 31 and 33, were taken into custody but declined to provide details.
The first attack was reported at around 9:30 pm Wednesday, with a 56-year-old German national working on the island treated for minor injuries.
Police said the second attack was reported at around 1:30 am and that a 43-year-old Maldivian was injured. He did not sustain serious injuries but was transferred to the capital for treatment.
An official at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital said he was treated for chest wounds but declined to provide details.
Police refused to comment on whether the two attacks were connected.
