Two men have been hospitalised after being stabbed in the Maldivian capital Tuesday evening.
They were attacked on Fareedhee Magu, near MHA Mart, police confirmed and are being treated in Male’s Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
One of them is in a critical condition after his intestines fell out and requires surgery, news outlet Mihaaru cited IGMH as saying.
The other sustained injuries to his hands and the side of his body. A third person was also stabbed in the same incident but did not need hospitalisation.
A police spokesman confirmed that suspects had been arrested Tuesday night, but refused to reveal further details.
News website Sun reported witnessing six people being arrested from a house and taken away in police vehicles. Photos showed six men with their hands behind their heads.
The two people stabbed last night had previously been charged with assault following an attack near Alcyon Bakery in July, Sun reported.
They were released from custody in late October and were named as Hamdhaan Hassan, from Th. Thimarafushi, and Aboobakuru Faariu, from N. Milandhoo.
Police were unable to confirm the Sun report.
