Maldives High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Masood Imad met opposition leader Namal Rajpaksa. The meeting followed criticism over the former's complaints to the Daily News last week about the alleged mistreatment of Maldivians by Sri Lankan Immigration officials. "Sri Lanka is a second home for many Maldivians. Constructive engagement is key to strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing mutual understanding, and strengthening cooperation between our countries," the opposition lawmaker tweeted.
The government denied reports about the President's Office providing a special allowance to Public Service Media Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb, which would bring his total compensation to about MVR 70,000 (US$ 4,550).
