The Maldives Meteorology Service issued its second yellow alert in as many days, as the National Disaster Management Center advised people to take precautions against flooding and heavy winds.
The Met said Friday there would be heavy squally showers and that winds would whip up to speeds of 55 miles per hour.
Rough seas are expected between Haa Alif and Laamu atoll, spanning most of the Maldives, and gusts of 57 miles per hour were recorded at Hulhumale’ on Friday afternoon.
Precautionary measures should be taken in case of flooding and heavy winds, the NDMC advised.
