Police are investigating a fatal accident in which two people died early Sunday when their motorbike crashed into the sea.
Local media identified the pair as Husna Mohamed and Ahmed Adeel who had been out in Holhudhoo island, Noonu atoll, before they went into the lagoon.
A council member told Mihaaru that the motorbike had crashed while speeding. The two were discovered submerged in the lagoon by a member of the public before being brought to the surface.
“There was no sign of life by the time they were rescued from the lagoon,” the council member said.
