Maldives police on Monday arrested a man from Laamu Gan over a violent knife fight that injured three people.
A police spokesman said a 23-year-old was captured while he was hiding out in the woods of Gan Mukurimagu ward. His arrest followed a two-day manhunt.
The Saturday night stabbing took place near a petrol shed in Gan Thundi.
Local media reported that Hussain Aarish, one of the three injured, was evacuated to the capital for treatment.
Mujthaz Ali is being treated at Gan Regional Hospital and Abdulla Suaal has been discharged, Mihaaru reported.
In a separate incident on Saturday night, Gan police arrested four people who were armed and getting ready for a fight.
The group – aged between 23 and 27 – were masked and sitting inside a car near Gan Thundi’s residential area when they were seized.
Police discovered hoods, a wig and a knife inside the vehicle. They would not say whether the two incidents were connected.
