Indian police arrested a fourth Maldivian in connection with a 17-kilo hashish oil bust, media reported Monday.
The New Indian Express named him as Amhar Rashydh, 22, who was studying for a degree.
Last month three Maldivians were picked up with 17 kilos of hashish oil. They had been attempting to leave Trivandrum for the Maldives with the drugs.
Rashydh was arrested after the trio alleged he was involved during questioning.
Police sources told media he had been “instrumental” in purchasing the drugs from Kerala-based sellers and had been in Trivandrum for five years.
The trio had been planning to smuggle the drugs to the Maldives in vegetable oil cans, it was reported.
