Murder charges have been raised over the fatal stabbing of two young men in late September, the Prosecutor General’s office informed media Thursday.
Three suspects were charged in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Moosa Ahmed in the Maafanu ward of the capital on September 23. The prime suspect, Sammaah Ahmed Fathuhy, 18, was charged with committing murder with a sharp implement whilst Ahmed Ijad Mohamed, 28, and Mohamed Riyaz, 24, were charged with aiding and abetting.
A suspect identified as Yameen Rasheed from the island of Fuvahmulah was charged in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Haris Abdul Gafoor near the halfway house in Hulhumalé on September 29.
As the criminal court breaks for a short recess next week, pretrial hearings are expected to commence in January.
