Police tightlipped over boat blast probe

Tourist arrivals increase in August as occupancy rate continues to fall
After registering a four percent decline in July, arrivals from China increased by 7.8 percent in August despite a slowdown in the Chinese economy and a surprise devaluation of the Yuan. China remains the largest source market for tourists to the Maldives with a 31.6 percent market share.

Supreme Court strikes down court order over “inappropriate language”

Assistant Attorney General sacked, wife suspended
Ismail Wisham was sacked today following his arrest on Monday night along with his wife on charges of possessing alcohol and drugs. Wisham’s wife, Hana Waheed, is a senior public prosecutor and the Prosecutor General’s office has suspended her pending a review of the charges.
