MDP office in Hoarafushi torched

According to the MDP, the haruge in Haa Alif Atoll Hoarafushi Island is no longer usable. No one was injured, but the furniture and office supplies were burnt.

The offices of the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in a northern island was torched in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to the MDP, the haruge in Haa Alif Atoll Hoarafushi Island is no longer usable. No one was injured, but the furniture and office supplies were burnt.
The fire, reported at 1:55am was put out by the police, a police spokesman said. He declined to comment on whether the fire was deliberate as the matter is under investigation.
Mohamed Sameer, a councilor, said: “Right now, we don’t know exactly what happened.”
