Resort occupancy rate continues to fall

While the occupancy rate at resorts fell six percent in November to 68.7 percent, the occupancy rate at guesthouse rose 11.6 percent during the month. In contrast to resorts and hotels, guesthouse occupancy has risen to an average of 22.9 percent this year.

Tourist arrivals increase in August as occupancy rate continues to fall

After registering a four percent decline in July, arrivals from China increased by 7.8 percent in August despite a slowdown in the Chinese economy and a surprise devaluation of the Yuan. China remains the largest source market for tourists to the Maldives with a 31.6 percent market share.

Revenue collection declined in May due to a decrease in tourist arrivals and decline in revenue from Business Profit Tax. The government expenses rose due to spending on recurrent expenses.
