The state broadcaster refused to show a live telecast of last week’s press freedom day official ceremony despite assurances to the Maldives Media Council.

Japan grants US$20m for digital broadcasting network project
“With the adoption of the ISDB network, Maldivian broadcasters can cost efficiently send their broadcasting signals across Maldives with ease,” Home Minister Umar Naseer said after signing the agreement with the the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA). ISDB-T is a technical standard for digital broadcasting developed by Japanese and Brazilian experts.

Senior TVM staff found guilty of sexual harassment, let off with warning
The state broadcasting company, Public Service Media (PSM), refused to confirm the decision made by an internal committee following an inquiry, but Minivan News has learned that the offender was let off with a written warning.
