Justice Hussain Shaheed was elected to represent the Supreme Court on the Judicial Service Commission, filling the seat vacated by former justice Husnu Suood on the 10-member watchdog.

Two men arrested on suspicion of smuggling duty-free cigarettes from the departure terminal of the Velana International Airport were granted conditional releases by the criminal court. One of the suspects was identified as a police sergeant who worked as a duty officer at the airport. Yoosuf Nazeer, 38, was suspended without pay.

A 1.8 megawatt generator was sent to Addu City as Fenaka promised it would solve persistent power outages after installation at the central power station within 48 hours.

At a graduation ceremony for 24 huffaz who memorised the Quran, President Muizzu contended that freedom of expression does not extend to defamation, backbiting and spreading false rumours. 

MNDF announced plans for an "Eid Evening" event in Malé with performances, sports and activities for children at a large area spanning the Sultan Park and Republic Square.

The social and family development ministry asked the broadcasting regulator to take action against Raajje TV over remarks made by talk show guests about autism and down syndrome, expressing concern over such comments and mockery normalising disrespect toward persons with disabilities.
