STELCO sent two electricity bills in February in order to include discounts pledged by the president for Ramadan, the state utility’s managing director explained, assuring against duplicate charges after the dual billing caused public concern. This approach aims to eliminate a 25-day delay backlog in the billing cycle, he said. From April onward, readings will be taken in the last week of each month with bills delivered the following day, which will allow customers to verify readings against their meters, he said. A 30-day grace period was also offered to pay without penalties.

Power outages resumed in Addu City despite the state utility Fenaka delivering a new 1.8 megawatt generator ahead of Ramadan, prompting criticism from a lawmaker. Three generators previously fixed by Fenaka started malfunctioning again, according to Mayor Ali Nizar.
