Bench reduction, PNC rifts and utility discounts

A ruling party lawmaker submitted a bill to reduce the number of Supreme Court justices from seven to five. The legislation proposes removing two justices from the bench, circumventing the constitutional impeachment process based on a finding of misconduct by the judicial watchdog.

Senior PNC MPs opposed a request from Majority Leader Ibrahim Falah to submit resolutions against Supreme Court justices, insisting that such cases must be handled by the Judicial Service Commission, anonymous ruling party lawmakers told Dhauru.
