Ruling party MPs on the parliament’s judiciary committee voted to deny Supreme Court Justice Azmiralda Zahir the opportunity to defend herself against the JSC’s recommendation that she be removed from the bench.
The criminal court extended Raudh Ahmed Zilal’s detention by five days. Raudh was with Hawwa Yumn Rasheed before her unexplained fall from a nine-storey building on April 18. Meanwhile, police told the media on Friday that they have not yet been able to take a statement from Yumn, despite her regaining consciousness.
