Nasheed return, Villimalé hospital and stabbing threats

Former president Nasheed announced his interest in contesting the 2028 presidential election. The 58-year-old, who resides in Ghana to serve as secretary general of the Climate Vulnerable Forum, sent a message to a group of senior MDP officials asking for their opinion on a potential comeback.

The Maldives and China signed an agreement to design a 112-bed hospital in Villimalé after a feasibility study for the project was completed. It is to be named the "China-Maldives Friendship Hospital."

Police began investigating a death threat against lawyer Mahfooz Saeed. An anonymous X user asked the MDP politician whether he should be stabbed.
