Six arrested in Villigili bank robbery

The robbery was discovered early Monday morning.

Six suspects were arrested Monday in connection with the robbery of the Bank of Maldives branch on Villigili island in Gaaf Alif atoll.
The six men were arrested with court warrants in an operation with police intelligence. The stolen money was also recovered but police declined to disclose the amount.
The BML branch on the southern island ceased operations after the robbery was discovered early Monday morning. The robbers reportedly broke in through the roof and destroyed safes.
