A group of young men tried to assault the opposition’s presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih while he was out campaigning in Hulhumalé on Tuesday, local media reported.
They confronted Solih’s team on the streets and tried to attack him. The candidate was unharmed and led away from the scene in a vehicle by private security, Raajje TV said.
“About 6 young people just tried to attack our candidate Ibu Solih while campaigning door to door in Hulhumale,” said an official tweet from his team. “We condemn these actions in strong words. We call on the police to investigate this.”
